Electronics Technologist

About the role

Guardian Telecom Ltd. is looking for an Electronics Technologist to maintain, test, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment in its Calgary office. The role involves working with electronic components, assemblies, and systems to ensure reliable network performance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and service telecommunications equipment, including testing power systems and calibrating electronic instruments.
• Read blueprints, electrical schematics, and product manuals to determine work requirements and repair parts.
• Assist in design, development, and testing of prototypes, and prepare estimates, schedules, specifications, and reports.
• Set up and operate specialized test equipment to diagnose, test, and analyze electronic components and assemblies.
• Complete work orders, test and maintenance reports, and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Required profile

• College diploma or equivalent (1‑2 year program) in a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in telecommunications or electronic testing.
• Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, organization, and teamwork.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using soldering equipment.
• Knowledge of electronic testing equipment and systems.
• Understanding of semiconductor testing and Surface‑Mount Technology (SMT).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
