Electrical Wiring Technician – Switchgear

About the role
RIC Power Corp., a manufacturer of low‑voltage and medium‑voltage switchgear, is seeking skilled Electrical Wiring Technicians for its Burnaby facility. You will be responsible for precise wiring and assembly of medium‑voltage switchgear and control panels, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform intricate wiring of control panels, protection systems, and medium‑voltage switchgear components using engineering drawings, schematics and blueprints.
- Execute wire termination methods such as crimping, soldering and lugs with appropriate tools.
- Operate semi‑automated equipment to cut, strip, crimp and label wires before installation.
- Route, bundle, fasten and identify wires and harnesses within panels and enclosures.
- Mount electrical components including relays, meters, controllers, PLCs, terminal blocks and other devices.
- Set up workstations to maximise product quality while minimising scrap and rework.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality targets.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
Required profile
- Minimum one year of experience in a skilled production environment involving electrical wiring or industrial control‑panel assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving ability and reliable work ethic.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Required skills
- Crimping and soldering wire termination techniques.
- Use of hand tools (wire strippers, cutters, screwdrivers, wrenches) and power tools (drills, torque tools).
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Operation of semi‑automated wiring equipment for cutting, stripping, crimping and labeling.
