Ecological Technician – Environmental Assessment & Reclamation

About the role

Keneco Environmental Inc. is looking for an Ecological Technician to support environmental assessment, reclamation and monitoring programmes for upstream oil and gas projects in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Based in Calgary, the role combines field work at multiple sites with data analysis and technical reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ecological and environmental field investigations, including soil, groundwater, surface water and vegetation assessments.
• Assist with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and Detailed Site Assessments.
• Collect, document and analyse environmental samples to support reclamation and monitoring projects.
• Monitor air, water and soil quality and interpret results against provincial guidelines.
• Track reclamation progress, vegetation establishment and land disturbance.
• Support site inspections, soil management and revegetation monitoring.
• Ensure contractor activities comply with environmental, reclamation and health‑safety requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, regulatory submissions and coordinate field logistics.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Environmental Engineering Technology, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Minimum three years of hands‑on experience in ecological or environmental field work.
• Experience with environmental site assessments and monitoring programmes.
• Familiarity with upstream oil and gas environments is an asset.
