Dock Worker - Multiple Shifts Available

About the role

Manitoulin Transport, part of the Manitoulin Group of Companies, is hiring a dock worker in Greater Sudbury. The role involves loading and unloading freight from trailers and staging it on the dock, with multiple shifts available and competitive pay.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from trailers and stage it on the dock using an electronic handheld device
• Use the handheld device to note exceptions such as shortages, overages, damages or missing bills
• Cube and/or reweigh freight as needed with a Dimensioner machine or by hand
• Assist co-workers and drivers in loading, unloading and locating freight
• Start heaters and placard trailers as required
• Load freight in the specified sequence to maximize trailer space and take photos per procedure
• Other duties may be assigned

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years of forklift experience
• Punctuality and good attendance
• Able to lift 50 lbs, sometimes repetitively
• Able to work under pressure with tight deadlines and to multitask
• Problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
• Cross-dock experience preferred

• Wages starting at $23.98, rising to $25.07 after 3 months and $26.94 after 12 months, plus shift premiums for night and weekend shifts
