Bilingual Dispatcher

About the role

Manitoulin Transport, which has provided transportation and logistics solutions across North America for 60 years, is looking for a Bilingual Dispatcher for its Central Dispatch operations team. You will coordinate freight movement across the network to keep it efficient, cost-effective and on time. The network runs 24/7, so you must be flexible to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Support Central Dispatch in coordinating freight movement across the network to service terminals efficiently.
• Act as the main point of contact for drivers, answering phones with hook-up information, departure times, delay updates and operational support.
• Partner with terminal dock staff and managers to plan trips and choose the most efficient, cost-effective freight movement.
• Handle electronic shipment billing, manifest trailers and strip freight from manifests as required.
• Maintain and update multiple shared Google spreadsheets.
• Coordinate and book hotel rooms for drivers and issue purchase orders as required.
• Track shipments and assist customers after hours when Customer Service is closed.
• Work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bilingual in French and English (required).
• Able to work under pressure in a high-call-volume environment and spend most of the shift on the phone.
• Detail-oriented, with strong multitasking and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize several tasks at once.

Required skills

• Strong computer skills, able to move comfortably between multiple digital systems.
• Google Sheets.
