Dispatch Supervisor – Operations Leadership

About the role

Day & Ross is seeking a Dispatch Supervisor to lead a high‑performing team in Woodstock, ON. You will ensure seamless daily operations, maintain service excellence for customers and internal partners, and drive continuous improvement across the dispatch function.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and motivate a strong dispatch team to meet operational challenges.
• Maintain high service levels while managing costs effectively.
• Create and execute strategic and tactical plans aligned with corporate goals.
• Set individual objectives, conduct performance appraisals, recommend salary actions, and plan succession.
• Oversee professional development and leadership training programs.
• Lead process‑improvement initiatives and communicate outcomes to key stakeholders.
• Provide mentoring, resolve employee issues promptly, and deliver targeted training.
• Recruit top talent for vacant positions.
• Lead cross‑functional teams, applying LEAN tools to enhance performance.
• Address driver and broker concerns, review the dispatch system, and collaborate with central and terminal dispatchers on solutions.
• Maintain flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required profile

• Secondary education minimum; post‑secondary preferred.
• 3‑5 years supervisory experience, preferably in transportation or operations.
• Advanced communication and customer‑relationship skills.
• Strong attention to detail, conflict‑resolution ability, and results‑focused mindset.
• Proven leadership, team‑building, negotiation, and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, high‑transaction environment.
