Dishwasher – Residence (Auxiliary)

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking ten auxiliary dishwashers to support the Residence Dining services on the Vancouver campus. The role involves cleaning, stockroom duties, and assisting with food preparation in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.

Key responsibilities

• Wash dishes, pots and kitchen equipment weighing up to 25 kg, and handle food service items.
• Perform stockroom tasks such as receiving deliveries, counting and shelving products, and maintaining inventory records.
• Clean tables, kitchen areas, floors, washrooms and equipment using appropriate cleaning agents and safety protocols.
• Assist cooks by retrieving supplies, preparing basic food items, portioning, plating and packing meals.
• Bus tables, set up service counters, replenish supplies and ensure proper stock rotation.
• Follow FoodSafe, UBC safety guidelines and recycling/waste procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 education with at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to lift and move items up to 25 kg and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
