Disability Support Worker – Private Household

About the role

This full‑time, permanent position provides in‑home support to adults with physical, intellectual or other disabilities in a rural private household. The role combines personal care, companionship and assistance with daily activities to promote independence and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Administer bedside and personal care, including bathing and hygiene assistance.
• Administer medications and provide medication reminders.
• Assist clients with water activities such as pool use.
• Support regular exercise, including walks and mobility routines.
• Feed or assist with feeding and prepare nutritious meals.
• Cook meals and serve them according to dietary needs.
• Launder clothing and household linens.
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
• Assist clients with special needs during outings and community activities.

Required profile

• Valid CPR and First Aid certificates.
• Ability to pass criminal record, vulnerable sector and reference checks.
• Punctual, reliable and dependable.
• Strong client‑focus and patience.
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility, initiative and good judgement.
• Organised, team‑oriented and able to work independently.
• Honesty and integrity.
