Director of Resident Care – New Long‑Term Care Facility

About the role

Lead the nursing and therapy services of a brand‑new long‑term care home in Scarborough. Working closely with the Executive Director, you will shape a resident‑centred culture from day one and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and supervise high‑quality nursing, therapy and restorative care for the new facility.
• Oversee admissions, transfers and discharges, reviewing all resident placement applications.
• Develop budgeting, expenditure and inventory control systems for the department.
• Lead risk‑management and quality‑improvement programs, including infection control and falls prevention.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary services such as food, social work, environmental and rehabilitation.
• Recruit, hire, coach and evaluate nursing staff, and manage orientation and in‑service training.
• Chair professional advisory committees and liaise with the Ministry of Health and external health partners.

Required profile

• Current RN registration with a Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years nursing experience, including at least 1 year in geriatrics/rehabilitation/LTC and 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Current CPR certification and a satisfactory vulnerable sector police check.
• Proven financial acumen in budgeting and expense monitoring.
