Resident Care Assistant – Long Term Care (Scarborough)

About the role

RhynoCare is looking for a Resident Care Assistant (RCA) to support residents in long‑term care facilities in Scarborough, Ontario. You will work as an Independent Contractor, providing compassionate one‑on‑one supervision and engaging residents in meaningful activities.

Key responsibilities

• Observe assigned residents to maintain a safe, caring environment and intervene during violent outbursts, escalating when needed.
• Provide 1‑to‑1 compassionate supervision, including cognitive and recreational activities such as reading, storytelling, and photo album review.
• Complete hourly documentation (Dementia Observations Scale, Behaviour Assessment Record) and communicate observations to the healthcare team.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living under direct supervision of registered health professionals.
• Maintain a professional image, wear a legible name tag, and perform additional duties such as high‑touch cleaning.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 11 or equivalent education recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Experience delivering patient‑focused care and working within an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and communication abilities.
