Director of Operations – Clinical Research & Innovative Medicine

About the role

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is seeking a senior leader to direct the operations of its Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM). This role will shape the strategic direction of clinical research services, ensure operational excellence, and foster partnerships across the Institute’s research ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic planning and operational leadership for the CIM, aligning activities with the Institute’s vision.
• Build, lead, and develop high‑performing teams that deliver high‑quality clinical research services.
• Oversee financial stewardship, budget negotiations, and long‑term sustainability of CIM operations.
• Lead the integration and optimization of clinical research platforms, technical platforms, and research operations.
• Manage multicenter trial projects, coordinate with internal resources, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop and nurture internal and external partnerships with industry, investigators, and health‑care stakeholders.
• Implement organizational change initiatives and contribute to the Institute’s overall clinical research strategy.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in clinical research operations or a related biomedical environment.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans and manage large, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budget planning and negotiation.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a track record of building effective partnerships.
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks governing clinical research in Canada.
