Director of Operations – Clinical Research & Innovative Medicine

About the role

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) seeks a senior leader to direct the operations of its Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM). Reporting to both the Director of Clinical Research and the Chief Operating Officer, the incumbent will shape strategy, oversee daily activities, and strengthen partnerships across the Institute’s clinical research ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic planning and operational leadership for the CIM.
• Build, lead, and develop high‑performing teams that deliver clinical research excellence.
• Ensure financial stewardship, performance oversight, and long‑term sustainability of CIM operations.
• Lead the development, integration, and optimisation of clinical research platforms and services.
• Foster strong internal and external partnerships with industry and institutional stakeholders.
• Negotiate budgets, manage regulatory compliance, and oversee multicentre trial project management.
• Identify service gaps, implement improvements, and support organisational change initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading clinical research operations or similar complex research environments.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
• Strong financial management and budgeting expertise.
• Excellent leadership and team‑building skills.
• Ability to cultivate internal and external partnerships.
