Director of Operations – Clinical Research & Centre for Innovative Medicine

About the role

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre is seeking a senior leader to direct operations of its Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM). Reporting to both the Director of Clinical Research and the Chief Operating Officer, you will shape the strategic direction of CIM, ensure operational excellence, and foster partnerships across the Institute’s clinical research ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and operational leadership for CIM, aligning activities with the Institute’s vision.
• Build, mentor, and manage high‑performing teams to deliver top‑quality clinical research services.
• Oversee financial stewardship, including budgeting, negotiations, and long‑term sustainability.
• Develop, integrate, and optimise clinical research platforms and technical services.
• Manage multicentre trial projects, regulatory compliance, and technical platform operations.
• Establish and nurture internal and external partnerships with industry and academic stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in clinical research operations or a comparable healthcare environment.
• Strong track record in strategic planning, financial management, and team development.
• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with industry partners and academic investigators.
• Excellent understanding of regulatory frameworks governing clinical studies.
