Director of Operations – Clinical Research & Centre for Innovative Medicine

About the role

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre is seeking a senior leader to direct operations of its Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM). Reporting to both the Director of Clinical Research and the Chief Operating Officer, the role will shape the strategic and operational landscape of clinical research across the Institute.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic planning and operational leadership for the CIM.
• Build, lead, and develop high‑performing teams to support clinical research excellence.
• Ensure financial stewardship, performance oversight, and long‑term sustainability of CIM operations.
• Lead development, integration, and optimization of clinical research platforms and services.
• Foster internal and external partnerships to advance institutional clinical research.
• Oversee budget negotiations, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagements.
• Implement the CIM strategic plan and support organizational change initiatives.
• Manage multicenter trial projects, budgets, technical platforms, and research operations.
• Motivate teams to deliver high‑quality services to the research community.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading clinical research or biomedical operations.
• Strong leadership ability to develop and manage high‑performing teams.
• Demonstrated financial management and budgeting expertise.
• In‑depth knowledge of regulatory guidelines governing clinical studies.
• Experience collaborating with industry partners and academic institutions.
• Ability to align operational activities with the Institute’s vision and strategic goals.
