About the role

FinDev Canada is seeking a Director, External Affairs to lead an integrated external engagement function. This senior position will shape the organization’s narrative, advise senior leadership, and coordinate high‑impact government and media interactions as the institution expands its mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a cohesive external affairs strategy aligned with FinDev Canada’s growth objectives.
• Lead the creation of clear, credible narratives for diverse stakeholder audiences.
• Advise the Chief Strategy Officer and senior leadership on policy briefings, executive positioning, and major announcements.
• Oversee government, private‑sector, and media engagement, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and impact.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in external affairs, government relations, or strategic communications.
• Strong judgment, prioritization, and collaborative skills.
• Proven ability to translate complex strategies into concise, politically attuned communications.
• Track record of leading teams in dynamic, high‑visibility environments.
