Director, Accounting & Controller

About the role

Calgary Airports oversees two major aviation assets: YYC Calgary International Airport and YBW Springbank Airport, operated by a community-based not-for-profit organization. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Accounting & Controller leads a team of about 15 accounting and finance professionals and provides hands-on leadership across the accounting cycle, from day-to-day operations to board-level reporting and strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the accounting function and lead a team of approximately 15 accounting and finance professionals.
• Provide hands-on leadership across the accounting cycle, including board-level reporting and strategic decision-making.
• Work with executive leadership, operational teams and key stakeholders to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and controls.
• Oversee complex accounting for strategic capital projects and funding arrangements.
• Champion continued efficiency and automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Designated CPA.
• Progressive accounting and finance experience in a sophisticated, multi-entity environment.
• Track record of leading high-performing teams and developing talent.
• Comfortable resolving technical accounting issues as well as presenting to senior leaders and the Board.
