About the role

The Digital Literacy and Documentation Specialist will work within McGill’s central IT Services to create and manage user‑focused communications, documentation, and promotional campaigns for new and existing IT services. The role collaborates with Change Management, Training, and other IT teams to ensure clear, effective information reaches students, faculty, and staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce end‑user communications and documentation for all central IT services.
  • Partner with university teams to plan and deliver communication deliverables for IT projects and initiatives.
  • Develop, edit, and maintain content on internal websites and the IT Knowledge Base.
  • Create and update promotional materials such as posters, slide‑show announcements, screen messages, and social‑media posts.
  • Communicate system outages, performance issues, maintenance windows, and service changes to the McGill community.
  • Gather and respond to user feedback on Knowledge Base articles.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing for new or updated IT systems.

Required profile

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • At least three years of related experience (five years preferred).
  • Experience writing technical documentation and procedures.

Required skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Graphic‑design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Web publishing skills including HTML and McGill Web Management System.
  • Experience publishing content on social‑media platforms.
