Design Engineer – New Product Development

About the role

Linamar is seeking a Design Engineer to lead the creation of new products, components, and systems while continuously improving existing offerings. The role blends engineering rigor with creative problem‑solving to deliver safe, high‑performance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and design new products, components, and systems that meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Create detailed technical drawings and specifications using CAD software.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and cross‑functional teams to refine designs and resolve technical challenges.
• Conduct feasibility studies, prototype testing, and validation of design concepts.
• Oversee manufacturing processes to ensure accurate and efficient production of designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of proven experience as a Design Engineer or in a similar role.
• Professional engineering certification is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software, especially SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Experience using simulation and analysis tools.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection.
