Data Analyst

About the role

Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join the Data Storytelling & Insights team. You will own the creation of analytics‑ready data models and pipelines, and translate complex business questions into clear, actionable insights that drive key decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data models and pipelines using Dataform and BigQuery, including migration of legacy logic.
• Ensure analytics code and pipelines are reliable, well‑documented, and ready for downstream reporting and experimentation.
• Develop and maintain reusable Tableau dashboards and reports grounded in centralized data.
• Translate ambiguous business questions into analyses that explain what happened, why, and what to do next.
• Partner with stakeholders to define requirements, metrics, and scalable analytics solutions.
• Contribute to shared analytics standards and best practices across SQL, Dataform, Tableau, and documentation.
• Leverage modern AI tools and LLM‑based coding agents to accelerate analytics workflows while validating correctness and data quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data analytics, analytics engineering, or business intelligence.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with modern cloud data warehouses, preferably BigQuery.

Required skills

• SQL (complex joins, window functions, semi‑structured data).
• Dataform (experience with dbt is a plus).
• BigQuery.
• Tableau (or Looker/Domo).
