Data Analyst – Global Compliance Data Analytics (Contract)

About the role
The Data Analyst will join Scotiabank’s Global Compliance Data Analytics team in Toronto. Working closely with business analysts, data scientists and data engineers, you will help translate business needs into robust data pipelines, dashboards and analytical solutions that support governance and risk management.
Key responsibilities
- Champion a customer‑focused culture and deepen client relationships across the bank.
- Design and implement data pipelines, ensuring high‑quality ETL processes and clear data lineage.
- Facilitate discussions with business stakeholders to gather requirements for data governance, advanced analytics and modeling.
- Create interactive dashboards and data features for reporting, governance and predictive analytics.
- Maintain documentation such as data quality reports, source‑to‑target mappings and ETL specifications.
- Stay informed on the bank’s strategies, policies, risk appetite and IT processes to embed risk considerations into daily work.
- Promote operational efficiency, compliance controls and an inclusive, high‑performance work environment.
Required profile
- University degree or college diploma in a STEM discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics).
- At least 2 years of experience cleaning, transforming and visualising data from varied formats (logs, XML, JSON, flat files).
- Hands‑on programming experience with advanced SQL knowledge.
- Experience with agile methodologies and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong communication skills with a customer‑focused mindset.
- Background in statistical analysis or machine learning using R, Matlab or Python.
