Cybersecurity Operations Analyst

About the role
Powerex Corp., the energy marketing subsidiary of BC Hydro, is looking for a Cybersecurity Operations Analyst to join its Security Operations team. You will protect critical business systems that support North America’s energy markets by detecting, responding to, and hunting cyber threats.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate, analyze, and respond to cyber incidents across the enterprise environment.
- Correlate security events from multiple data sources to determine impact, root cause, and remediation actions.
- Conduct proactive threat hunting using behavioral analytics, threat intelligence, IOCs, and TTPs.
- Analyze malware indicators, network traffic, endpoint telemetry, cloud activity, identity events, and system logs.
- Coordinate incident response with infrastructure, networking, cloud, application, and business teams.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans, playbooks, and operational documentation.
- Support, administer, and improve cybersecurity technologies such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, IAM, network and email security, EPM, cloud services, vulnerability management, and automation/orchestration platforms.
- Design, tune, and optimize monitoring rules, detection logic, dashboards, alerts, reports, and use cases.

- Demonstrates technical ownership, sound judgment, curiosity, and initiative in a security operations environment.
