Customer Service Clerk – Summer Student Assistant

About the role
The Summer Student Assistant will support the SmartLife and Assistive Technology Coach in delivering training and workshops that enhance independence for Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. This clerk‑type position combines customer‑facing support with administrative duties throughout the summer.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in organizing and facilitating virtual and in‑person workshops and demonstrations.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for participants’ iOS and Windows devices during training sessions.
- Manage referrals, waitlists, and follow‑ups for the Phone it Forward program.
- Maintain the Salesforce database and perform other administrative tasks.
- Support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and coordination.
- Promote new assistive‑technology solutions through various communication channels.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program related to technology, education, social work or a related field (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal skills and interest in working with people with vision loss.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated leadership and customer‑focused initiative in a complex environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Basic knowledge of Salesforce (asset).
- Familiarity with iOS and Windows device troubleshooting.
