Customer Care Representative - Near North Customs (Afternoon Shift)

About the role

Near North Customs, part of the Manitoulin Group of Companies, offers customs brokerage, trade consulting and freight forwarding services. It is hiring a Customer Care Representative for its Near North office on the afternoon shift (Monday to Friday, 3pm to 11:30pm). The role keeps shipments moving smoothly through customs and handles import permits.

Key responsibilities

• Make sure shipments are not delayed at the border by completing documentation accurately and within assigned time limits
• Check that customs paperwork is legal and accurate
• Review incoming customs invoices for accuracy of weights, values, tariff codes, quantity, GST, duty and excise tax
• Flag shipments that may need amendment and pass the information to the Team Leader to avoid fines
• Track shipments by reference number, print copies and attach them to customs documents
• Prepare and apply for import permits
• Keep customs knowledge up to date, coordinate with internal staff on customs issues and liaise with government officials and customs officers

Required profile

• Customs experience and knowledge of CBSA processes
• Excellent written and verbal English
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple accounts and work well under pressure
• Strong problem-solving and mathematical skills, and excellent customer service and diplomacy
• Self-motivated team player who deals well with change
