Course Lecturer – Teaching Oral Skills in ESL (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to teach "Teaching Oral Skills in ESL" (EDSL 334) during the Fall 2026 term. The instructor will lead a face‑to‑face class focused on applying the English sound system to practical ESL teaching situations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and workshops on pronunciation, fluency, and other oral skills for pre‑service teachers.
• Design, develop, and adapt teaching materials and activities that integrate pronunciation practice.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in course coordination and planning meetings at least two weeks before the start date.
• Maintain alignment with the Quebec Education Program and Ministry of Education professional competencies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Second Language Education or a closely related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Teaching qualification and proven experience teaching English as a Second Language.
• Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program and its professional competencies.
• Demonstrated expertise in course content and prior success teaching similar courses to pre‑service teachers.
• Experience teaching ESL within the Quebec elementary or secondary French‑school system.
