About the role
The Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to teach EDPE 555 – Socio-Cultural Foundations of Learning Sciences during the Fall 2026 term. This is a fixed‑term, unionized appointment focused on delivering high‑quality instruction and fostering student engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver three weekly lecture sessions (Thursdays, 6:05‑8:55 p.m.) for a 3‑credit course.
- Prepare and update course materials, readings, and assessments in line with current Learning Sciences research.
- Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and participation.
- Maintain office hours and provide academic support to students.
- Ensure course content reflects evolving program competencies and scholarly advances.
Required profile
- PhD holder or ABD in Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology, Applied Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Prior experience as a course instructor or teaching assistant at the university level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern and seminal socio‑cultural theories underpinning Learning Sciences.
- Satisfactory teaching evaluations for previously taught courses, as defined by the department.
- Scholarship and methodological expertise in Learning Sciences are considered assets.
Required skills
- In‑depth understanding of socio‑cultural learning theories.
- Familiarity with research methods common to Learning Sciences.
- Ability to design and deliver effective university‑level instruction.
