Course Lecturer – Philosophical Foundations (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to teach the undergraduate course EDEC 260-003: Philosophical Foundations in the Fall 2026 term. This 3‑credit course explores core ideas that shape educational theory and professional practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures on Monday and Wednesday evenings (8:35 pm–10:25 pm) in the Education Building.
• Facilitate classroom discussions on the nature of the person, reality, knowledge, value, and the aims of education.
• Integrate equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into course content and pedagogy.
• Utilize myCourses, Zoom, and other digital tools to support blended learning experiences.

Required profile

• Master educator with an MA in education foundations (philosophy, sociology, history of education, curriculum studies, or educational leadership) and extensive experience as a school or community educator.
• PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.
• Demonstrated expertise in philosophy of education, history of educational ideas, and contemporary education issues.
• Previous successful teaching of similar undergraduate or graduate courses.
• Experience as a school administrator, institutional leader, or master teacher in the Quebec education system is a plus.

• Experience using Zoom for instructional delivery.
