Course Lecturer – Philosophical Foundations (EDEC 260-002)

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to teach the undergraduate course “Philosophical Foundations” (EDEC 260‑002) in the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering two weekly lectures, assessing student work, and contributing to the academic community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures on Tuesday and Thursday, 08:35 am–10:25 am in the Education Building (EDUC 627).
• Prepare and update course materials, including readings and assignments.
• Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and participation.
• Maintain office hours and provide academic guidance to students.
• Integrate equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into teaching practices.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in education foundations (philosophy, sociology, history of education, curriculum studies, or educational leadership) with extensive experience as a school or community educator.
• Demonstrated expertise in philosophy of education, history of educational ideas, and contemporary education issues.
• Previous successful experience teaching similar undergraduate or graduate courses.
• Experience in school administration, institutional leadership, or as a master teacher in the Quebec education system is an asset.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.

Required skills

• Proficiency with myCourses learning management system.
• Experience using Zoom for virtual instruction.
• Familiarity with blended‑classroom technologies and digital teaching tools.
