Course Lecturer – Philosophical Foundations (EDEC 260-001)

About the role

We are seeking a Course Lecturer to teach the undergraduate course “Philosophical Foundations” (EDEC 260-001) in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) for the Fall 2026 term. The lecturer will deliver in‑person lectures, guide student discussions, and assess learning outcomes for a 3‑credit course.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lectures on philosophy of education, history of educational ideas, and contemporary issues.
• Design and grade assignments, exams, and other assessments.
• Facilitate classroom discussions and support student learning during scheduled Tuesday and Thursday sessions (1:35 pm‑3:25 pm) in the Education Building (EDUC 627).
• Utilize myCourses, Zoom, and other digital tools to enhance instruction and manage blended learning activities.
• Integrate equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into course content and teaching practices.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (MA) in education foundations (philosophy, sociology, history of education, curriculum studies, or educational leadership) with extensive experience as a school or community educator.
• PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.
• Demonstrated expertise in philosophy of education, history of educational ideas, and contemporary educational issues.
• Prior successful experience teaching similar undergraduate or graduate courses.
• Experience in school administration, institutional leadership, or community leadership in the Quebec education system is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with myCourses learning management system.
• Experience using Zoom for instructional purposes.
• Familiarity with a variety of digital teaching and learning tools, including blended‑class delivery platforms.
