About the role
The Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) at McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to deliver the EDEC 280 782 Geography, History and Citizenship Education course for elementary teachers. The position runs in the fall of 2026 and focuses on multidisciplinary, cross‑curricular themes aligned with the Quebec Education Program.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver three credit hours of instruction from October 26 to November 19, 2026, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (5:30 pm – 8:45 pm).
- Adapt course content to the cultural and social context of the Gesgapegiag community.
- Coordinate with OFNIE and the partnering school board on curriculum alignment and competency development.
- Participate in pre‑course planning activities approximately two weeks before the start date.
- Provide travel, accommodation, and per‑diem support for instructors as required.
Required profile
- Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience in related fields).
- Expert knowledge of the course topics and the Quebec Education Program.
- Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies defined by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
- Experience teaching in Quebec elementary schools, preferably in Indigenous communities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum grounded in Indigenous knowledge and equity‑focused pedagogies.
Required skills
- Curriculum development and instructional design.
- Knowledge of Indigenous pedagogies and the impact of colonialism.
- Ability to modify teaching materials to reflect current advances in the field.
