Course Lecturer – First Year Professional Seminar (EDEC 201-004)

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer for the First Year Professional Seminar (EDEC 201-004) in the Fall 2026 term. This 1‑credit, on‑site course introduces pre‑service teachers to school culture, the teaching profession, and core competencies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly Friday sessions (11:35 am‑2:25 pm) in the Education Building (EDUC 613).
• Design and assess assignments, portfolios, and competency activities.
• Coordinate with the DISE teaching team and attend planning meetings at least two weeks before the course starts.
• Maintain accurate course records and grading in compliance with university policies.
• Provide guidance and feedback to pre‑service teachers throughout the semester.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent research/professional experience).
• Teaching degree or equivalent qualification.
• Experience teaching in schools, preferably within the Quebec elementary/secondary system.
• Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program and Ministry‑specified professional competencies.
• Commitment to collaborative teamwork and availability for coordination meetings.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Zoom or similar online meeting platforms.
• Experience using the myCourses learning management system.
