Course Lecturer – First Year Professional Seminar (EDEC 201-003)

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer for the Fall 2026 term to teach the First Year Professional Seminar (EDEC 201-003). This 1‑credit course introduces pre‑service teachers to school culture, the teaching profession, and the complexities of the teacher role.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly seminars on Fridays from 11:35 am to 2:25 pm in Education Building (EDUC 434).
• Facilitate student engagement with professional competencies and portfolio development.
• Assess student work and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with a team of instructors and attend coordination meetings at least two weeks before the course start.
• Utilize myCourses and Zoom to support classroom activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent research/professional experience).
• Teaching degree or equivalent credential.
• Demonstrated experience teaching in schools, preferably within the Quebec elementary/secondary system.
• Expert knowledge of the course content and the Quebec Education Program (QEP).
• Familiarity with the Professional Competencies defined by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
• Commitment to work collaboratively with a team of instructors.
