Course Lecturer – Essentials of English Grammar (Fall 2026)

About the role
The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to teach EDSL 350-001/002, Essentials of English Grammar, in the Fall 2026 term. This three‑credit course focuses on analysis of English phrases, clauses and sentences, emphasizing the distinction between grammatical form, meaning, and function, and the correction of common ESL learner errors.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver in‑person lectures and facilitate classroom activities on Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:35 pm–4:25 pm, in Education Building (EDUC 627).
- Design and assess assignments that develop students’ metalinguistic knowledge of English grammar.
- Provide constructive feedback on ESL learner errors and guide students in effective correction strategies.
- Participate in course coordination and planning meetings at least two weeks before the start date.
- Integrate equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into teaching practices.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Applied Linguistics, or a related field (exceptional candidates without a master’s may be considered).
- Teaching qualification in TESL.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of English grammar and ESL error correction.
- Familiarity with the Quebec Education Program and experience teaching ESL within the Quebec elementary/secondary French school system.
- Previous successful experience teaching similar courses to pre‑service teachers.
Required skills
- Proficiency with myCourses learning management system.
- Experience using Zoom for instructional purposes.
