Course Lecturer – Basic Art Media for Classroom (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to deliver the Fall 2026 offering of EDEA 241-001, Basic Art Media for Classroom. The position involves in‑person instruction for elementary‑level studio exploration, scheduled on Mondays from 08:35 am to 11:25 am in the Education Building (EDUC 604).

Key responsibilities

• Teach the EDEA 241-001 course, covering fundamentals of basic art media for elementary classrooms.
• Prepare and adapt instructional materials that align with interdisciplinary connections between art and the broader elementary curriculum.
• Utilize myCourses, Zoom, and other digital platforms to support classroom activities and student engagement.
• Integrate equity, diversity, and inclusion pedagogical approaches into all teaching practices.
• Assess student work and provide constructive feedback in accordance with university standards.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Visual Art Education or a related field, or extensive experience as an artist‑educator.
• PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline is an asset.
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of basic art media for elementary use and its role in contemporary classrooms.
• Prior successful experience teaching similar undergraduate or graduate courses.
• Experience as a visual‑arts teacher/instructor within the Quebec educational system.
• Familiarity with the Professional Competencies set by the Ministère de l’Éducation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with myCourses learning management system.
• Experience using Zoom and comparable online teaching platforms.
• Ability to apply a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.
