About the role
The Coordinator, Food, Nutrition and Food Security supports student wellbeing at the University of British Columbia by leading health education and promotion initiatives focused on food literacy, nutrition and food security. The role oversees the student‑run Food Hub Market, delivering low‑cost groceries and educational programming for the campus community.
Key responsibilities
- Lead day‑to‑day operations of the Food Hub Market, including volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling and management.
- Oversee food sourcing, inventory, pricing and distribution to ensure affordable, nutritious options for students.
- Design, deliver and evaluate evidence‑based programs that improve food literacy, cooking skills and food security.
- Collaborate with the Health Equity, Promotion & Education team to align initiatives with the Okanagan Charter for Health‑Promoting Universities.
- Supervise student staff and volunteers, providing guidance and performance feedback.
- Monitor and report on program outcomes, budget usage and stakeholder engagement.
Required profile
- Background in health education, nutrition, food security or related field.
- Experience designing and implementing community‑based health promotion programs.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities to manage volunteers and student staff.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based approaches to food literacy and nutrition education.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion and student wellbeing.
