Dental Assistant 2 – 10‑Month Maternity Leave Coverage

About the role

This 10‑month sessional position provides maternity‑leave coverage for a Dental Assistant II at the University of British Columbia Dental Clinic. The role supports a fast‑paced teaching environment, assisting dental students and faculty with clinical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Set up armamentarium and equipment for surgeries, including implants, extractions and grafts.
• Assist with periodontal charting and chair‑side procedures.
• Assemble implant kits and multiple GP kits.
• Disinfect, sterilize and manage instrument cassettes in the central sterilization area.
• Dispense supplies and materials to dental students.
• Prepare for and assist during clinical demonstrations.
• Maintain cleanliness of cubicles, dispensaries and lab areas.

Required profile

• IV sedation certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Hold or be willing to obtain a CDAAC sedation certificate.
• Proficiency in taking panoramic and cephalometric X‑rays.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Ability to work safely with heavy instrument cassettes and hot sterilizers.
