Controller – Construction Management

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the finance function for a construction management provider. You will own the monthly and quarterly close process, drive accurate forecasting, and partner closely with operations to strengthen financial decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly financial close, delivering timely P&L, balance sheet, WIP, and cash flow statements.
• Oversee project cost accounting, including budgeting, progress billings, holdbacks, and change orders.
• Manage Estimate at Completion (EAC) forecasting and Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) reviews.
• Partner with operations on margin tracking, forecasting, and strategic decisions.
• Supervise AR/AP, payroll, and cash management with strong internal controls.
• Direct annual budgeting and rolling forecasts, linking backlog and bid pipeline to financial plans.
• Own and optimize the ERP system (Jonas Premier), standardizing data, automating reports, and building dashboards.
• Coach and mentor the finance team, fostering collaboration and performance.
• Represent Finance in the EOS framework, ensuring scorecards and issue lists drive results.

Required profile

• CPA designation (CA/CGA/CMA preferred) with 7–10 years of experience in construction or general contracting.
• Deep knowledge of job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, and subcontractor compliance.
• Strong analytical mindset, high ownership, integrity, and calm under pressure.

• ASPE/GAAP accounting standards
• Progress billing and change order management
• Subcontractor compliance and bonding/insurance requirements
