Controller – Build Finance Function

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Controller to build and lead the finance function of a fast‑growing Canadian health‑and‑wellness retailer. Reporting directly to the President, you will design scalable accounting processes, deliver accurate financial reporting, and partner with leadership to drive strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations and manage the monthly, quarterly and annual close.
• Prepare and present accurate financial statements and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
• Coordinate year‑end activities with external accountants and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Develop annual budgets, rolling forecasts and cash‑flow forecasts, monitoring liquidity and working capital.
• Build meaningful financial reporting, key performance indicators and analytical insights to support business performance.
• Partner with senior leadership to evaluate investments, business opportunities and shape the future finance organization.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a controllership or senior accounting role within a growth‑oriented environment.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a passion for building processes from the ground up.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership.
