Continuous Instructor – Sheet Metal Worker

About the role

NAIT is seeking a Continuous Instructor to lead its Sheet Metal Worker program. The instructor will deliver hands‑on training to apprentices, ensuring they acquire the skills needed to fabricate, assemble, install and service sheet‑metal products across a range of industries.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in classroom, virtual, laboratory and industry settings.
• Participate in curriculum development, program and course reviews.
• Facilitate learning using instructional strategies that ensure efficient delivery of course material.
• Manage instructional delivery and maintain a safe, effective learning environment.
• Create assessment tools, evaluate progress and keep accurate student records.
• Provide early and ongoing coaching, tutoring and support to maximise student success and retention.
• Respond to student issues and utilise appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotion.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge of sheet‑metal fabrication and related processes.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Passion for student success, enthusiasm for teaching and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Experience with laser and plasma cutting equipment.
• Proficiency in numerically controlled (CNC) or computerized cutting, drilling, punching, bending and shaping equipment.
• Skilled in using hand and power shears, snips and related tools.
• Knowledge of materials such as galvanized iron, black iron, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, PVC and fiberglass.
• Competence with educational technology platforms for instruction and program promotion.
