Construction Superintendent

About the role

The Superintendent is the central leader on construction sites, responsible for coordinating all field activities, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence while fostering high morale among crew members.

Key responsibilities

• Steward safety and well‑being of all personnel, conduct inspections and address risks immediately.
• Lead site activities, manage the Chandos Production System, project design, budget, schedule, performance, sub‑trades and profitability.
• Mentor and oversee other Superintendents and field staff, promoting collaboration and accountability.
• Plan and schedule work, allocate manpower and materials, and hold milestones to meet project goals.
• Remove roadblocks, manage risk, and oversee project set‑up, execution and close‑out.
• Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, quality standards and drive workmanship excellence.
• Monitor budgets and forecasts, identify gains and mitigate losses.
• Oversee third‑party monitoring/testing per contract specifications.
• Act as the primary client interface, maintaining strong relationships and clear communication.
• Identify training needs, support apprenticeship programs and build high‑performing teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale construction projects.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and on‑site organization.
• Ability to mentor staff and foster a collaborative environment.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and capacity to remove obstacles quickly.
• Effective communication with clients, project managers and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of construction site management processes.
• Familiarity with lean construction principles.
• Experience with budgeting, scheduling and cost control.
• Understanding of third‑party monitoring and testing procedures.
