Temporary Facilities Attendant

About the role

The Facilities Attendant will support the Town of Whitby’s community centres by ensuring facilities are clean, well‑maintained and ready for public use. This position contributes to a positive corporate culture by embodying the Town’s CARE values in daily interactions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance, cleaning and repairs of assigned facilities.
• Maintain cleaning equipment, monitor product inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Set up meeting rooms and assist rental/permit groups with layout, guest counts and special requests.
• Respond to public and staff inquiries and conduct building checks, addressing any deficiencies.
• Provide training, direction and workload distribution to junior staff.
• Complete required administrative tasks and travel to other locations when scheduled.

Required profile

• Problem‑solver who gathers information, evaluates options and makes sound recommendations.

Required skills

• Valid Class G driver’s licence (good standing).
• Working‑at‑Heights or Lift‑Specific certification.
• Current CPR/AED Level C and Emergency First Aid certification.
• Post‑secondary training in Building Operation and Maintenance.
• Police criminal record check satisfactory for vulnerable‑sector work.
