Construction Superintendent

About the role

The Construction Superintendent will lead the procurement, construction and commissioning of facilities within the Plants area complexes. Reporting to the Surface Plants Area Construction Manager, the role ensures safe, on‑schedule and budget‑compliant execution of all site construction activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct all construction activities, aligning with schedules, budgets and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with the Construction Manager to set project goals, execution strategies and safety priorities.
• Oversee internal engineering teams, consultants and contractors, ensuring strict adherence to safety standards and legislative requirements.
• Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), procedures and work plans.
• Manage daily labour, equipment and material usage, and track owner‑supplied construction materials.
• Administer contracts, sub‑contracts and purchase orders, handling change notices and ensuring compliance.
• Conduct inspections to verify workmanship and material quality, addressing deficiencies promptly.
• Lead site meetings and maintain communication with consultants, trades and internal teams.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in heavy‑industry construction and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of safety, environmental regulations and labour relations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple contractors and complex construction interfaces.
• Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with tradespeople, engineers and stakeholders.
