Construction Superintendent – Heavy Civil & Earthworks

About the role

The organization is looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on‑site activities for heavy civil and earthworks projects in Northern British Columbia. This independent‑contract position ensures work aligns with plans, safety standards, quality expectations, and schedule commitments while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage daily on‑site construction activities, focusing on heavy civil and earthworks scopes.
• Coordinate contractors and construction teams to ensure work follows approved plans and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Monitor progress, identify and resolve issues or delays proactively.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
• Prepare and deliver daily and weekly progress reports.
• Manage labour, materials, and equipment resources efficiently.
• Support construction planning, sequencing, and scheduling.
• Act as a liaison between construction, engineering, and project management teams.
• Provide technical support to a designated Business Partner.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of leadership experience on large‑scale industrial, mining, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in heavy civil and earthworks construction.
• Proven ability to manage contractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
• Experience on remote or camp‑based projects is an asset.
• Strong communication, judgment, and problem‑solving skills.
