Construction Manager

About the role

GFT is seeking a Construction Manager to lead its Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) team within the Construction Services Group. The role operates on a hybrid model, combining office time in Toronto/Mississauga with regular visits to client sites across the Northern Greater Toronto Area, Newmarket and Uxbridge.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and manage a comprehensive QC/QA team.
• Bid new projects and oversee day‑to‑day QA operations.
• Develop and implement the Project Quality Management Plan (PQMP) aligned with corporate, contractual and regulatory standards.
• Conduct supplier and subcontractor audits to verify ISO 9001 and project‑specific compliance.
• Review and approve quality documentation such as Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements and material certifications.
• Lead risk‑based quality planning, early identification of non‑conformances, and manage the Non‑Conformance Report (NCR) process.
• Oversee inspection and testing activities, ensure traceability and proper record‑keeping.
• Coordinate with client quality representatives, independent verification bodies and regulatory agencies.
• Provide clear quality performance reporting to senior project management and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and leading QC/QA teams in construction environments.
• Strong background in bidding, contract administration and client interaction.
• Ability to work closely with contractors, engineers, procurement and construction teams.
• Excellent analytical skills for root‑cause analysis and corrective action planning.
