Conseiller juridique / Legal Counsel

About the role

Our client, a leading design‑and‑construction firm, is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide practical legal advice across its projects. The role works closely with senior management, project teams and external counsel to manage legal risk and support complex project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate construction, design, development, commercial and service contracts.
• Advise on project‑related legal matters including procurement, risk allocation, delays, change orders and disputes.
• Provide guidance on construction claims, litigation and dispute‑resolution mechanisms.
• Negotiate agreements with clients, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support internal stakeholders on regulatory, corporate, commercial and employment issues as needed.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and oversee litigation and other judicial procedures.
• Develop and improve contract templates, policies and internal legal processes.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to propose practical, business‑focused legal solutions.

Required profile

• LL.B. or J.D. and a member in good standing of a Canadian provincial bar.
• 3‑8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in construction, engineering, architecture, real estate, infrastructure or a related sector.
• Strong background in drafting and negotiating commercial and construction contracts.
• Experience with construction‑related litigation, claims or disputes is an asset.
• Deep understanding of contractual risk allocation and project delivery.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with business and project teams.
• Commercial judgment and a solution‑oriented approach.
