Communications Assistant for Public Humanities Hub

About the role

The Communications Assistant provides communications and content creation support for the UBC Public Humanities Hub, including digital media, event promotion, newsletters, and website updates. This part‑time position works 14–21 hours per week on‑site at the UBC Vancouver Campus.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop social media assets and coordinate campaigns in line with UBC, Arts, and PHH brand guidelines.
• Create, publish, and distribute internal communications, monthly newsletters, and public‑facing research materials.
• Maintain and update the PHH website, upload event documentation, and assist with migration to a new content management system.
• Provide general event support, including promotion, setup, teardown, and post‑event follow‑up.

Required profile

• High school graduation plus two years of post‑secondary education and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Demonstrated interest and experience in digital content creation, social media, newsletters, and inclusive communications.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and willingness to respect diverse perspectives.

Required skills

• Strong writing, editing, and design abilities.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (or equivalent) for graphic design, photography, and videography.
• Familiarity with WordPress/HTML for website content management.
