Commercial Auto Underwriter (Fleet)

About the role

Aviva Canada's Mid-Market branch is looking for an Intermediate or Senior Commercial Lines Fleet Auto Underwriter. You will service a substantial portfolio of commercial auto business, underwrite fleet accounts and show a commitment to customer service excellence. Applicants with 5 years or more of insurance underwriting experience are welcomed; the level will be set according to experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate risk for new and existing fleet business.
• Analyze reports to determine adequate exposure and loss rating.
• Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing levels and policy form amendments.
• Negotiate renewal terms to retain business.
• Use loss control and risk management practices in the underwriting process.
• Respond promptly to broker inquiries about changes to policy files and work with brokers to develop new business.
• Develop and maintain strong broker relationships and manage the assigned broker portfolio.
• Assist junior underwriters with applying corporate underwriting standards and share knowledge and skills within the branch.

Required profile

• 5 years or more of fleet underwriting experience.
• Demonstrated technical capability to independently manage a portfolio.
• Ability to guide junior underwriters.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Highly motivated, adaptable, able to work independently and collaboratively, and to meet deadlines under pressure.

Required skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Knowledge of RTM is an asset.

What we offer

• Salary of $60,000 to $75,000 for the intermediate position and $70,000 to $85,000 for the senior position, depending on knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity.
