Co-op Student – Assurance & Advisory

About the role

Join Baker Tilly’s Assurance and Advisory team as a Co‑op Student and contribute to real client projects while developing your accounting and audit skills. You will work alongside experienced professionals in a supportive environment that values growth and collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, set up and administer accounting systems, preparing financial information for various entities.
• Perform junior‑level audit duties, reviewing journal entries, bank statements, inventories, tax returns and other records for accuracy and compliance.
• Develop cost‑saving measures, reporting procedures and internal controls.
• Prepare income tax returns and provide basic financial, business and tax advice.
• Participate in special projects assigned by partners or senior staff.

Required profile

• Working toward or completed a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration with an Accounting/Finance focus.
• Progressing through prerequisite courses for the CPA PEP.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail and a motivated work ethic.
• Interest in accounting and tax work with solid interpersonal abilities.

Required skills

• Familiarity with basic accounting concepts such as balance sheets and income statements.
• Knowledge of Caseware, Caseview and TaxPrep (asset, not required).
