Co-op Engineer – Compiler

About the role

Huawei Canada's Heterogeneous Compiler Lab is looking for a motivated co‑op Engineer to contribute to the design, development and testing of compiler‑related software that targets next‑generation mobile, network and server hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and test compilers, language runtimes and system‑level optimizations for AI, graphics and mobile applications.
• Implement concurrent programming frameworks and distributed systems that scale from embedded devices to cloud services.
• Analyze and optimise software performance across heterogeneous architectures.
• Participate in daily scrums, project planning and agile ceremonies.
• Research emerging technologies, survey industry trends and present findings to the team.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a university co‑op program, majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong background in C++ programming.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and operating systems.
• Experience working in a Linux or Unix‑like development environment.
• Proficiency with a Unix shell.
