Civil Superintendent – Field Supervision

About the role

The Civil Superintendent will lead field operations for Kiewit’s construction projects in Eastern Canada, overseeing multiple foremen, laborers, and craft workers. Based in Toronto, the role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage contract administration, including subcontractor coordination and field management meetings.
• Develop and maintain client‑relation programs on‑site.
• Initiate and attend regular client meetings for problem resolution and planning.
• Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash‑flow projections.
• Review, approve, and negotiate change orders.
• Develop and implement plans for project completion and turnover.
• Maintain a daily diary for accurate record‑keeping.
• Ensure timely performance evaluations for direct reports.
• Recommend organizational, policy, procedural, or staffing changes as needed.
• Mentor and develop junior superintendents.

Required profile

• Mid‑level field supervisor with experience overseeing multiple foremen and labor crews.
• Proven ability to organize work methods, scheduling, cost control, and ensure conformity with drawings and specifications.
• Strong track record of maintaining positive relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and job‑site staff.
• Effective communicator capable of leading meetings and resolving issues on‑site.
