Chef – Restaurant Kitchen Lead

About the role

The Restaurant Satay Brothers is seeking an experienced chef to lead its kitchen in Montréal. You will oversee daily operations, prepare a diverse international menu, and ensure high-quality bakery and dessert offerings while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Estimate quantities and costs of supplies, requisition food and kitchen items, and manage inventory.
• Supervise cooks, sous‑chefs and other kitchen staff, schedule work, and train them on new cooking techniques and equipment.
• Plan menus, prepare and cook meals for regular service and special events, and ensure all dishes meet quality standards.
• Prepare dough, batters, icings, and a variety of bakery goods and desserts according to recipes or special orders.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and adhere to health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional kitchen experience, preferably in an international or bakery‑focused setting.
• Strong leadership, dependability, and excellent interpersonal communication.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment with attention to detail.
• Flexibility, initiative, and a team‑player attitude.

Required skills

• Food preparation and cooking techniques across international cuisines.
• Menu planning and recipe development.
• Bakery production, including dough handling, batter mixing, and frosting.
• Inventory estimation and cost control.
